Fender Stratocaster Vintage 1964 Pre-CBS | 3 Tone Sunburst

£24,500.00

We are proud to offer for sale an exceptional example of a 1964 Fender Stratocaster, retaining a high degree of originality of all components! This example still has its vibrant three-tone sunburst finish, possessing the red hues in the burst which normally fade over time. The serial number is L28579 and the guitar sports a neck heel date of March 1964, placing it well into the Pre CBS era.

The maple neck is in great shape and feels nicely worn in and plays really quite fast. The rosewood fingerboard also feels lovely, and is in excellent condition for its age with no real patches of major wear whilst maintaining the lovely vintage feel. The guitar has also been refretted, which does not possess a major financial penalty and renders the guitar great to play, which is quite uncommon on guitars of this age and there is approximately 65% fret life remaining. The neck grip is a very approachable medium C, which fills the hand very comfortably unlike the super slim necks of a few years earlier. It feels great and is really nice and easy to play both up and down the neck.

Electrics wise, the guitar is 100% original with untouched solder joints, 3 black bobbin pickups all dated Jun 18 ‘64 and pot codes reading 137 6422 (22nd week of 1964). The three way selector switch and capacitor are also original and untouched. Photos of internal cavities and indeed in person inspection are available upon request. The single line kluson-deluxe tuners as well as the saddles are both correct and have the correct stamping. The pickguard and plastics are well kept, with little shrinking, probably due to having spent most of its life protected in the case.

The guitar also comes with the original black hardshell case and tremolo arm. This guitar is a great player and also a great investment piece as prices for vintage guitars of this era have skyrocketed in recent years. Please consider this opportunity!
